Most of us who spends a lot time over internet naturally expects a higher connection speed which will simplify browsing experience. And most of us are connected to the internet via WAN (Wireless Area Network) or Dial-up or GPRS etc. This is because the faster “broadband” also cuts our pocket faster. The poor thing here is that those who use specially dial-up or GPRS to connect to the internet suffers much as of low bandwidth and of slow browsing speed. Would not be it better if there exists some kind of free application to solve this annoyances?
Yes there exists one such application particularly for Linux users that can be downloaded free and then can be used in your Linux pc to speed up browsing experience.
Ziproxy is such an application for Linux platform used to managed the web traffic to have a good browsing experience even using connections like WAN, Dial-up or GPRS. Actually, it is a forwarding, non-caching, compressing, HTTP proxy server. Ziproxy compresses images by coverting them to lower quality images like JPEG 2000 format as well compresses HTML/CSS or other text like data using gzip. The good thing is that you can control the compression ratio of these web contents as per your requirements. Besides, it also provides features like preemptive hostname resolution, transparent proxying, etc.
Ziproxy does not require any client software and can be useful for any web browser. In a sentence, it acts like a “web accelerator” for low-bandwidth connections like WAN, Dial-up or GPRS, etc.
